The position develops and facilitates the development of all course content, including course media, assessments, grading tools, learning activities, readings, and other course materials. The position may participate in the course review process, ensuring that all courses meet quality standards and that these standards are incorporated into the design of each course.

In furtherance of our mission, the incumbent for this position will possess a high degree of knowledge about instructional design theories, the rapidly improving understanding of human learning, and advances in hardware and software that can be used to improve teaching and learning as well as the production of modern online media, e.g., video recording.

The position has no direct reports but may schedule, train, or supervise student workers in their roles as instructional design assistants.

Working in tandem with faculty, the Instructional Designer will apply knowledge of learning science and instructional design models to design and develop high-quality learning experiences for students.

  • Evaluate online courses for compliance using the Quality Matters Rubric.
  • Assist with project management to include maintaining accurate records and updating project management software.
  • Perform other duties related to the support of teaching and learning within Libraries and Academic Innovation.
