Regional Materials Manager
Position Profile
The Regional Materials Manager oversees the flow of materials from procurement to distribution, ensuring the right materials are available to meet production and customer needs. This leader will develop, implement, and maintain procurement strategies to balance quality, cost, and supply continuity with a systems-driven approach consistent across all sites. They work collaboratively with Operations teams to ensure inventory levels support changing demand while protecting the company's working capital interest.
Essential Functions
The Regional Materials Manager develops and refines a forecasting process to lead the planning of materials for each site. They monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring neither excess nor a shortage, which could impact production schedules. They provide guidance to material coordinators within their region to ensure the corporate inventory strategy meets the site's needs. This individual is a key contributor to the S&OP process – providing insight to current inventory levels and material market conditions.
Responsibilities
- Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines.
- Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
- Works with the purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Collaborates with other departments such as production, finance, and quality control to ensure that material requirements are met.
- Reviews current market conditions related to cost, availability, and quality.
- Prepares detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments for upper management and stakeholder review.
- Optimizes intercompany transfers to reduce cost while ensuring the optimal supply chain.
- Contributes to the S&OP process – identifying incoming materials and inventory level requirements needed to support the Operations plan.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required in an applicable field – Business Management, Supply Chain. MBA a plus.
- Experience: 3-5 years experience in multi-site materials planning.
- APICS certification preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, EPICOR preferred.
- Solid knowledge and experience in all operational disciplines, particularly in planning, procurement, logistics, and integrated systems.
Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
- Able to present complex theoretical concepts and empirical performance data effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Exhibits strong leadership skills with particular emphasis on relationship development.
- Ability to communicate and present to multiple management levels.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Microsoft Office skills including advanced Excel skills.
- Prior ERP implementations / improvement initiatives required.
- Proficiency in MRP and ERP systems inventory control, materials requirements planning, item master, demand planning, and advanced supply chain planning and analytics preferred.
- Data-driven with demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems and strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of industry best practices for S&OP, and value chain analytics.
Travel Requirement: up to 50% Annually
