Overview: Participates in and assists with cost estimating and bid services for the company's pipe fabrication, civil, and mechanical construction business.
Responsibilities:
- Become familiar with the company's estimating and job flow process.
- Check in drawings from client-provided lists.
- Perform quantity take-offs, determine necessary manpower, special equipment requirements, material items, and subcontractors.
- Procure firm, detailed quotes from material suppliers, special equipment suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Assist with preparing detailed estimates in accordance with client specifications.
- Assist the team with preparing and reviewing project schedules.
- Create detailed proposal letters listing specific items included and excluded from quotes, according to client specifications and requests.
- Attend bid review meetings as needed with estimators or business line management to ensure accuracy, finalize bids, and discuss strategy.
- Maintain a job folder containing pertinent information related to the job.
- Periodically review and suggest updates to estimating policies, standards, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Ability to professionally communicate with clients and vendors.
- Ability to work well within a team structure.
- Ability to remain focused in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to read isometric drawings (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
