Description
Under the general direction of the Director of HR , the HR Generalist performs duties at the professional level in the functional areas of recruitment and staffing, training, onboarding, performance management, complex and confidential tasks supporting the operation of the HR Department. This position provides guidance on labor relations, employee relations, benefits and leave administration, and works collaboratively with managers across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Manages full employment lifecycle including recruiting, onboarding, training and termination.
- Facilitates educational and community partnerships.
- Provides support with employee relations and labor relations activities.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition, and culture occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Location: Pasco, WA
FLSA: Non-exempt
Hourly rate: $28.85 - $35.80
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required.
Experience: 3 years in formal Human Resources experience. Prefer experience in any of the following areas: benefits and leave administration, employee and labor relations, workers comp, OSHA regulations and compliance, and EEO and ADA.
License/Certification: Current driver’s license and auto insurance required. Professional certification SHRM CP or PHR preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of state and federal employment laws. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Skilled delivering training and public speaking. Ability to manage time effectively and work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to be flexible in times of change and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion required. Proficiency with MS Office products required. Ability to navigate HRIS software. Commitment to providing excellent customer service and support.
