Description
Reporting to the Director of People Operations, the HR Generalist will help with various projects within the People Operations team, however, primarily oversees the management of UNICO's employee benefit and wellness programs. As the main point of contact for benefits, this role will collaborate closely with them to enhance programs, streamline processes, and resolve issues. This position also involves leading communication efforts regarding benefits to employees, addressing inquiries, and troubleshooting challenges, while partnering with the People Operations Team as needed.
Requirements
Benefits Management
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of all employee benefit programs, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, Voluntary, STD, LTD, 401(k), COBRA, Flexible Spending Accounts, Paid Time Off, and Employee Assistance Program.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries, ensuring they understand their options and helping them navigate the enrollment process.
- Assist new hires during onboarding by explaining benefit offerings and guiding them through the enrollment process.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reporting of benefits data, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, in the company HRIS or benefits management systems.
- Manage relationships with benefits vendors (e.g., insurance carriers, retirement plan administrators) ensuring the efficient delivery of services and resolving any issues or discrepancies.
- Develop and distribute benefits communication materials (e.g., benefits guides and plan summaries) to keep employees informed about available benefits and any changes.
- Coordinate and facilitate the annual Open Enrollment process for employees, ensuring clear communication, timely enrollment, and a smooth transition to new plans.
- Reconcile and pay all benefit bills, perform quarterly audits of all carrier websites, and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs.
- Compile annual census information regarding wages and other benefits data.
- Cross-train in other People Operation’s areas as needed.
Wellness Program Coordination
- Work with the Director of People Operations to set and execute corporate Wellness strategy.
- Serve as the primary point of contact regarding Wellness programs, tracking, and incentives.
- Generate, maintain, and update departmental wellness program status reports.
Professional Requirements
- Education: High school diploma required. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university is preferred.?
- Experience: A minimum of one year of HR-related experience preferred.

Physical Demands | Working Conditions
- This role’s physical exertion is sedentary and occurs in an office environment.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Substantial movements and repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Individuals must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer, and extensive reading.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
- Must operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer, and other work-related electronic devices and applications.
