Position Overview:
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and overseeing all delivery functions to ensure that customer service and deliveries are performed safely, efficiently, on time and in accordance with company procedures. Oversees the organization and storage of inventory and materials for shipment Tracks shipments and follows up on missing items, damaged materials, or incorrect shipments. Coordinates with managers to meet the delivery requirements of different departments. Ensures that Shipping operations are in accordance with established procedures and policies. Seeks to continuously improve service. Ensures that the Company's professional reputation is maintained and that superior customer service is provided. Keeps management well informed of significant problems and area activities. Schedules, assigns, supervises, trains, directs, and appraises related personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assumes responsibility for the planning, development, and implementation of effective Transportation & Warehouse planning, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists Management with long and short term planning.
  • Executes established operational goals and ensures that Transportation policies support and complement Company strategies, mission, vision, and values.
  • Assists in developing policies and procedures for Transportation. Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.
2. Assumes responsibility for effectively managing Transportation & Warehouse operations.
  • Ensures that deliveries are processed efficiently.
  • Ensures that excellent, professional communications are maintained with customers. Ensures that all customers’ expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Interprets and distributes client messages to employees.
  • Ensures that Transportation functions are completed in accordance with Company policies and procedures and client standards. Performs periodic checks.
  • Ensures on-time delivery of products or services.
  • Identifies, researches, and permanently resolves Transportation and customer service problems.
  • Tracks and resolves problems involving damaged goods, incorrect orders, and missing goods.
  • Directs inventory procedures and controls. Maintains stock at cost effective levels.
  • Ensures that Warehouse materials are rotated and stored properly.
  • Oversees order filling processes and related documentation. Completes and signs off on shipping.
  • Manages Warehouse space planning. Ensures that the Warehouse layout will accommodate present and future storage requirements.
3. Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and safety compliance of Warehouse facilities & Transportation vehicles.
  • Ensures that OSHA requirements are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Ensures that Warehouse facilities are clean and orderly.
  • Ensures that company vehicles are in safe operating condition. Schedules preventive maintenance with the Director of Facilities & Equipment as appropriate.
  • Supervises and schedules the maintenance and cleaning of vehicles.
  • Ensures Warehouse security.
4. Assumes responsibility for ensuring professional business relations with clients (project field personnel), vendors, suppliers, shippers, and external contacts.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Company and external contacts.
  • Ensures that requests and problems are promptly and courteously resolved.
  • Ensures effective coordination of external delivery services with Company operations.
  • Obtains and conveys information as appropriate.
  • Promotes goodwill and a positive image of the Company.
5. Effectively schedules, supervises and directs Transportation & Warehouse personnel, ensuring excellent customer service and optimal performance.
  • Provides leadership to assigned personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts regular meetings to ensure that personnel are well informed of changes in policies and procedures. Conducts meetings to inform, train, and seek solutions for identified problems. Ensures employees understand Company policies and procedures and the importance of customer service.
  • Assigns and coordinates related personnel. Directs related daily operations.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements training programs as appropriate.
  • Provides measurable feedback to assigned personnel and suggestions for
  • Improved performance. Formulates and implements employee corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate. Interviews, hires, and assigns personnel as necessary.
  • Directs, schedules, and coordinates employees. Identifies and tracks staffing needs and ensures that they a are met. Reviews attendance logs, truck & driver logs and timesheets. Monitors and controls overtime.
  • Promotes teamwork. Encourages employee involvement, suggestions, and problem solving.
6. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with Company personnel and with management.
  • Closely coordinates functions with related departments.
  • Assists and supports Company personnel as needed. Responds to questions and information needs.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
  • Completes related reports and records.
7. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Assists Transportation & Warehouse personnel as needed.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.

  • Superior customer service is consistently provided. Customers' expectations are met or exceeded. Deliveries are on time and meet established standards. Problems are promptly, courteously, and permanently resolved. The Company's professional reputation is maintained and projected
  • Transportation & Warehouse functions are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety and regulatory standards.
  • Personnel are effective, efficient, optimally utilized, and appropriately informed. Employees understand the importance of their roles and seek to continually improve.
  • Truck schedules and routings are effective, efficient and vehicles are optimally utilized.
  • Employees are assisted and supported as needed. Performance appraisals are conducted as required and suggestions for improved performance are provided. Employees are developed and consistently treated fairly.
  • Costs are monitored and controlled. Suggestions for improved productivity and service are provided.
  • Good coordination and working relations exist with related departments and units. Assistance is provided as needed.
  • Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Inventory records and documents are current, accurate, and well organized.
  • Shipping errors are carefully tracked and resolved.
  • The Company's mission, vision, and values are promoted and implemented.
Education/Certifications/Skills
  • EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Additional related maintenance and facility management training preferred.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Excellent understanding of inventory control and management procedures.
  • Understanding of Company operations.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, supply contracts, and shipping requirements.
  • EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Five or more years of related experience, with at least two or more years of supervisory experience
  • SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent leadership abilities.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct team activities.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Good communications abilities.
  • Able to use all related maintenance equipment and computer applications.

Compensation
  • Base: $90,000-$120,000/Annually
  • Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, education, training, and/or experience.
