What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAFF ASSISTANT - HONOLULU OFFICE position at United States Senate?
The Office of Senator Mazie K. Hirono seeks a Staff Assistant for her Honolulu, Hawaii office. Please note that relocation expenses are not covered by the Senate.
Being the first contact between constituents and the Senator's office, applicants should be patient, resourceful and highly organized. The ideal candidate will possess effective oral communication and writing skills and an ability to work with minimum supervision, handling multiple tasks and assignments successfully.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: welcoming and interacting with visitors and constituents who have appoints with visit the state office, answering phone calls with a professional demeanor, maintaining office voicemail, processing and assigning correspondence to appropriate staff, maintaining constituent database records, drafting congratulatory certificates, compiling and mailing tour packets, and additional administrative tasks as assigned.
Professionalism, confidentiality, ability to work independently and as part of the office team are prerequisites for a successful candidate, along with a familiarity and appreciation for Hawaii’s multi-ethnic society and the unique qualities of each island community. This position is based in Honolulu, not Washington, D.C.
