The AD for Athletic Recruitment and Development oversees a comprehensive program of recruitment and development for student-athletes. This position works in conjunction with the Department of Athletics and the Office of Admission to ensure a holistic approach to student-athlete development from matriculation to graduation, and beyond. The AD for Athletic Recruitment and Development enhances the student-athlete experience in all aspects of the Mount Union experience. Each area is detailed in nature to meet the individual needs of each student-athlete.Purpose: Offer a unique approach to the collegiate student-athlete, holistic development and enhance the student-athlete experience through further integrating the university mission into the student-athlete experience. This position will differentiate the University of Mount Union as a top tier institution not only for its highly competitive and successful athletic programs and excellence in education but for its development of qualified and successful professionals beyond sport.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Enrollment (60%)Manage the recruitment of all incoming new student athletes to The University of Mount Union. This includes perspective student’s application cycle and admission review, financial aid packaging, and matriculation to the institution. This role collaborates with the Office of Admission for tracking and reporting of all new student athletes.Develop and oversee CRM management of student-athlete Slate record/application.Communicate regularly and effectively with athletic staff perspective student athlete enrollment progress, application status, documentation, and financial aid packages.Coordinate the informational sessions during prospective student athletes campus visit experience. Work with athletic coaches to ensure prospective students meet with appropriate administrative, academic, and campus partners during their recruiting visits.Develop a schedule of offerings for information sessions for perspective student athletes. This encompasses a standing schedule of group sessions and individual meeting times.Travel, as necessary to support athletic recruitment efforts.Maintain a high level of confidentiality to meet federal regulations regarding student record keeping.Development (30%)Operate as a liaison between Student Affairs Department and Athletic Department to ensure offerings are available that meet the needs of student athletes. Name, Image, Likeness ResponsibilitiesDevelop plan for creating, securing, and implementing NIL resources for student-athletes and staff.Meet with coaches and sport/team NIL liaisons to discuss NIL resources and strategy.Meet with current and prospective student-athletes to discuss NIL resources (included recruiting presentations for PSAs.)Work with Marketing department on Trademarks, Licensing, and IP policy related to NIL.Manage student-athlete brand building and brand management.Serve as liaison between student-athletes and external constituents and partners.Main point of contact for NIL Agents and other NIL representation.Work with M Club/Fundraising unit to create and implement strategy for engaging donors and alumni to increase NIL opportunities: NIL Education MentorshipManage a mentorship program connecting current student athletes with community members, alumni and other university constituents to enhance student athlete’s network/ career readiness. Collaborate with the career development office.Engage with community partnerships that offer community service, and volunteer opportunities for individual student athletes, and athletic programs.Expand student-athletes’ worldviews, celebrate diversity, and provide an inclusive, supportive environment. Offer leadership and service experiences and advocate for increased student-athlete involvement on campus and in the community.Co-Advise the SAAC organization on campus Retention (10%)Support the Coordinator for Student-Athlete Success and Development in support and retention initiatives including but not exclusive to: Proactive approach for students at risk of leaving the institution.Evaluation of comprehensive learning initiatives programing for at-risk student-athletes.Offer transitional support for students looking to leave sport, develop programming/process to retain student regardless of athletic involvement. *Transitional hand off point for student to integrate to campus as non-athlete*Support UMU100 class with teaching engagement specifically for student athletes
