Typical Responsibilities: Coordinate the implementation and administration of departmental processes and/or programs. Ensure that university records are kept in accordance with federal, state and other governing regulations. Monitor, maintain, and provide ongoing analysis of finance or business operations. May act as principal financial or operational coordinator to the department. Reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds. Work collaboratively with university staff to ensure success of assigned area. May assist in the preparation & delivery of workshops and training programs. Interpret departmental policies for area of responsibility. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

Required Qualifications: This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization ; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.

General Description / Primary Purpose :

The Coordinator Student Affairs, under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.

Job Function:

The Coordinator Student Affairs, under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development, and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.

Exchange visitors: Processes exchange visitors for admissions and university approvals. Assists exchange visitors with pre-arrival and arrival processes, course schedules, registration, access to campus resources, and in solving problems related to their overall well-being, cross-cultural adjustment, filing tax returns, securing work authorization, university-related activities, among other potential concerns.

Exchange agreements : Participates in the development, execution, and implementation of new and existing exchange agreements between UNF and exchange partner institutions. Manages communication with new and existing exchange partners regarding renewals, updates of active exchange agreements, and initiating new agreements. Participates in real-time (considering international partner time zones) fairs to promote UNF to exchange partner institutions. Supports the creation and execution of the exchange student marketing and communications plans to partner institutions; Creates promotional materials and presentations following university guidelines.

Visa Compliance: The role serves as both the Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students and the Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 students, scholars, and interns, ensuring visa compliance with federal regulations through SEVP/SEVIS. The DSO/ARO processes and issues Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of State (DOS) documents for incoming international students and exchange visitors while staying current on U.S. immigration policies and regulations. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with federal and state entities to resolve immigration issues, serving as a 24-hour compliance officer for time-sensitive matters, and interpreting university, state, and federal policies and regulations to make independent decisions that support university and immigration objectives.

Student engagement : Facilitates international student orientation and ongoing compliance workshops. Creates social media strategies to engage prospective and existing exchange students; develops/implements cultural programs; advisor to international student organizations.

Tuition waiver awards/scholarships : Processes the International tuition waivers/scholarships and third-party scholarships for international students.

Others: During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off-campus location or place of residence. May include international travel and other duties as assigned.


Marginal Functions :

Develops/implements programming schedule including but not limited to new student arrivals, new student orientations, graduation event, welcome back bash, cultural/social activities, open houses, new parent’s day, and assists with other established activities.

Departmental Requirements:

Must be either a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States, due to federal requirements for Designated School Officials (DSO) for and Alternate Responsible Officers (ARO). Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and effectively present to culturally and ethnically diverse groups of people whose native language may not be English; excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to use discretion and tact in working with confidential/sensitive information. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multitasking, diverse environment. Ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and manage a complex workload. Significant experience with computers and office applications, email, internet, and other software. Ability to create/maintain internet/web pages. Experience with writing items for the public, such as brochures, flyers, and correspondences. Well organized; willing to give presentations to large crowds; a self-starter. Willing to work outside M-F/8-5 time period for required functions such as presentations to partner universities and students occurring in a different time zone. Able to work with multiple people and departments. Help with other duties as required when office is short-staffed or for special events/projects.

Supervision Exercised:

Supervises student assistant assigned to help this position. In addition, this person is the club advisor and offers supervision and guidance to international student organizations.

General, broad-view instructions/directions on overall o ffi ce needs/activities; Speci fi c instructions on speci fi c activities/programs/issues as created or revised, as necessary.

Level of Public Contact:

First point of contact for partner institutions, prospective students, and visitors. Regular contact with on-campus and off-campus/international organizations.

Policy-making and/or Interpretation:

Under the supervision of an Assistant Director and above, works with University units in developing/establishing policies and procedures related to international activities. Makes real-time and time-sensitive independent decisions based on interpreting DHS and DOS federal immigration regulations which impact international students/scholars and their dependents. Provides workshops/outreach programs for campus community on DHS and DOS policies and procedures. Remains current and interprets University and State admissions regulations and requirements, as well as BOG Florida scholarship policies and requirements.


Program Direction and Development:

Collaborates with academic and administration departments on a regular basis to build/maintain positive relationships. Works with other University constituents such as Admissions, Graduate School, Academic Advising on best practices in international student admissions/advising. Develops, evaluates, and monitors international student/scholar/students intern compliance process for the university.

Required to sign standard University FERPA agreement regarding confidentiality of information in student records.

Annual Salary: $41, 900
