Paralegal – Utility-Scale Solar Projects
Location: (Hybrid/Travel may be required)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to support our Preconstruction Team in handling contracts and purchase orders terms and conditions related to utility-scale solar projects nationwide. The ideal candidate will have experience in renewable energy, project development, and a strong understanding of contract law and IRA regulations. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth progression of large-scale solar energy projects, from pre-development through construction and operation. The Preconstruction Paralegal will be required to travel on a quarterly basis to Headquarter for in person meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Review & Management:
- Assist in the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts related to power purchase agreements (PPAs), equipment procurement, construction, and interconnection agreements.
- Maintain a library of legal documents, contracts, and filings specific to solar projects.
Regulatory & Compliance Support:
- Research and analyze federal, state, and local regulations affecting utility-scale solar projects, including environmental permitting, zoning, and interconnection processes.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, energy, and construction regulations.
- Assist Regulatory Dept. with regulatory communications and review of promulgated regulation.
Project Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare and organize project-related legal documents, agreements, exhibits, and other essential project materials.
- Track and manage critical contract milestones, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
- Assist in preparing legal reports and summaries for internal stakeholders.
Litigation Support & Dispute Resolution:
- Assist in resolving disputes related to construction, and regulatory matters.
- Prepare legal memoranda and assist with litigation preparation, as needed.
Research & Legal Analysis:
- Conduct legal research to support the development of legal strategies and identify risks or challenges related to utility-scale solar projects.
- Keep up-to-date on industry trends, legal developments, and renewable energy policies.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, with a focus on energy, renewable energy, construction, or real estate law.
- Experience with construction law, utility-scale solar projects or other large infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations applicable to renewable energy, solar energy, land use, and environmental law.
- Experience with contract terms and conditions negotiation, due diligence, and legal document preparation.
- Familiarity with the regulatory processes for utility-scale solar projects, including permitting and interconnection.
- Proficient in legal research, document management, and case management software.
Other Requirements:

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a law firm or in-house legal department supporting construction and or renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency with industry-specific software and tools (e.g., land management systems, environmental compliance software).
