Overview:
As the Controller you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the financial operations and accounting functions of the organization. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and contribute to strategic financial planning and decision-making processes. This position involves collaboration with department heads and external stakeholders.
Primary Duties:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner. Monitor financial performance again budget and forecast variances.
- Develop and maintain the annual budget process. Prepare financial forecasts and projections. Provide insights and recommendations to leadership team based on financial analysis.
- Manage cash flow and ensure availability of funds needed. Monitor banking activities and ensure cash management policies are followed. Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable process. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions. Will ensure accurate payroll records get recorded in the GL and will serve as a backup to the payroll process.
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal financial regulations. Manage insurance coverage and risk management strategies. Coordinate audit and proper filing of tax returns.
- Support CEO/President in financial planning and strategic decision making. Provide financial analysis as needed, in areas such as pricing, contract negotiation, capital investments and acquisitions.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred. Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in the insurance industry. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance issues. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, walking, finger dexterity, reaching, stooping, and grasping functions. Frequent sitting, standing, and repetitive motion activities are also required. Must be able to read print and computer-based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted indoors with controlled degrees of temperatures.

The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
