Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced animal handler to join our team of passionate employees.
Wagging Tail Dog Services is a small family owned business that provides the best care to our four legged friends. We are a team of smart hard working professionals dedicated to making a difference in the animal world by giving our pets the care they deserve.
A truly cross functional role, the successful candidate will drive our doggy school buses, go on walks, and over see the pups in our daycare. The job is fun and rewarding. You will be able to play with pups all day while making sure they are being well taken care of.
The job comes with a starting hourly rate of $15.50 - $16 an hour. Benefits include bringing your own furchild to work with you once they pass our evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise dogs during playtime and rest periods, ensuring that all dogs are safe and behaving appropriately
- Feed and provide water to dogs according to their specific dietary needs and feeding schedules
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the facility, including cleaning up dog waste, sanitizing play equipment, and washing dog bedding
- Administer medication to dogs as directed by the owner or as required
- Monitor dogs for any signs of illness or distress and report any health concerns to the manager or the pet’s owner
- Perform basic grooming tasks such as brushing coats and cleaning ears
- Conduct initial evaluations of new dogs to assess their temperament and compatibility with other dogs
- Engage in interactive activities with dogs to provide mental stimulation and exercise
- Communicate with dog owners about their pet’s behavior, interactions, and any concerns
- Supervise play and interaction between dogs
- Feed and provide water for dogs according to the owners’ instructions
- Walk dogs and provide them with exercise
- Monitor the dogs for any unusual behavior or symptoms, and report to the manager or a vet
- Administer medication as needed
- Perform grooming tasks such as brushing and bathing
- Clean and sanitize the facility and equipment
- Ensure a safe and secure environment at all times
- Communicate with dog owners about their dog’s behavior and wellbeing
Skills
- Previous experience working with dogs preferred
- Knowledge of basic dog handling and training techniques
- Understanding of dog behavior and health issues
- Ability to manage large and energetic dogs
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and lift heavy dogs if needed
- Patience and a love for animals
- High school diploma or equivalent
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driving licenses for 5 years.
- Must have a clean driving record. (No speeding tickets & no accidents)
- 1 year of experience working with dogs.
- Know the dog language and signs.
- Able to use a smart phone.
- Superior communication skills
- Able to lift 50lbs
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
