Description
Position Responsibilities
- Assist in recruiting efforts and seek out new methods to increase applicant pool.
- Administers the Webco Employee Referral Program.
- Completes background screening on applicants that are potential employees.
- Schedule pre-employment physicals for applicants that have been made offers of employment.
- Facilitates portions of New Hire Orientation.
- Conduct and analyze exit interviews to pro-actively reduce causes of turnover.
- Assist employees and dependents regarding benefit coverage questions or direct them to the appropriate source.
- Assist in compliance with federal COBRA regulations, FLSA, EEO.
- Assist in communicating information regarding 401(k) plan. Assist employees in preparation of 401(k) paperwork.
- Understands use and purpose of Webco’s Employee Assistance Program. As appropriate maintain contact with EAP regarding status of employees. Encourage the use of the EAP at appropriate times.
- Train new Shift Business Managers on interviewing techniques and legal compliances.
- Coordinate divisional activities to increase employee relations.
- Participate in departmental continuous improvement processes.
- Responsible for maintaining the Webco Internal Advancement process.
- Assist in the administration of Leave Programs. Ensure proper paperwork is documented and received from the employee. Examples include bereavement leave, FMLA, Military, LOA, jury duty, etc.
- Understand and be knowledgeable of Webco polices and procedures in order to assist employees and managers with questions as they arise.
- Participate actively in special projects and assignments (e.g., HR policy revisions, payroll conversions, benefit updates, etc.)
Typical Physical Demands:
- Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day on a regular basis.
- Requires additional hours of work as required per work load of position and department.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Regularly uses a telephone for communication.
- Uses office equipment such as copier, and fax machines.
- Requires prolonged periods of monitoring computer screens and displays
- Utilizes a variety of hand positions to repetitively manipulate keyboard and mouse. Position requires occasional, prolonged periods of standing and walking distances of up to 2 miles in a manufacturing facility.
- Must be able to travel to other Webco Divisions to perform job duties on site as needed or required to complete position assignments is under control.
- Since the manufacturing plant operates around-the-clock, may often arrive early to work or work late shifts and may be called in at any hour to deal with emergencies. This could mean going to the plant to resolve the problem, regardless of the hour and staying until the situation is under control.
- Job is fast paced and the ability to deal with stress is essential.
Qualifications
Required Education and Skills
- B.S. Degree in Human Resources Management, Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred and/or 1-2 years experience in a Human Resources related position.
- Strong knowledge of human resource laws and regulations.
- Ability to multi-task and focus on and work with details.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills with the ability to negotiate and persuade.
- Highly motivated, personable, flexible, and eager to enhance knowledge and skills through on-going education and development.
- Understand the need and reasons for confidentiality. Maintain extreme and discrete confidentiality at all times, includes documents and personnel files. Exercise discretion in communicating with others.
- Committed to high standards of integrity, including respect and value for individual team member’s unique talents, skills, and individual qualities.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as in project team environment.
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment properly for routine tasks on an as-needed basis, including fax machines, typewriters, copy machines, e-mail, central calendar systems, ten-key, etc.
- Strive for continuous education in all areas of HR generalist areas.
- Proven timely achievement of project milestones is required.
