We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.
Job Summary: Shop Helper has the responsibility of assisting in various welding and fabrication projects in a shop setting. Duties include cutting, fitting, tacking, grinding and welding. Will also be assisting others in the fabrication process. Help maintain a clean and organized shop.
Shop Helper also inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, cleans, and maintains new and existing equipment and/or systems. It is essential for the Shop Helper to be able to communicate with other team members and to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
Roles and Responsibilities:

- With assistance, the ability to position, layout, fit up, and cut material in accordance to shop drawings and directions from supervisor.
- Operate tooling and equipment such as a torch, plasma arc cutter, grinder, pipe bender, etc.
- Work safely in a shop setting around heavy equipment including ironworkers, press brakes, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.
- Load and unload equipment and materials.
- Maintain tools as required to perform job.
- Performing all job duties following company safety rules and proper use of all personal protective equipment.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
- 3-6 months shop experience preferred
- Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.)
- Comprehend a Bill of Material to determine necessary materials and requirements.
- Frequent use of basic hand and measurement tools.
- Ability to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.
Physical Requirements:
- Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
- Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and able to lift up-to 50 or more pounds frequently.
- Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
