JOB SUMMARY

The Production Technician 3 performs all tasks involved in the production of Wood’s Powr-Grip’s (WPG) products. The position follows standard production procedures and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the following minimum qualifications unless indicated as only a preferred qualification:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED - Preferred but not required

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: Driver’s license - Preferred but not required

EXPERIENCE: Preferred but not required.

MATHEMATICS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to the extent required by the position. Ability to measure and convert measurements using various measurement tools.

SCOPE OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY

This position reports directly to the Production Cell Supervisor or Assistant Production Cell Supervisor for the particular department to which the Production Technician 3 is assigned. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The position of Production Technician 3 includes all authority necessary to produce products and parts as assigned by the Production Cell Supervisor or the Production Cell Assistant Supervisor. This includes authority to direct or perform all activities which are within the Production Technician 3’s defined span of control, and which are necessary for the organization to attain its production schedules. All such activities are to be carried out within the bound of established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has the following essential functions and responsibilities:

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The position has the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Reads, understands and follows standard WPG production procedures as assigned by department supervisor, assistant supervisor, or designated trainer.
  • Operates various hand tools, machinery and equipment, and read blue prints and job orders to prepare, fabricate, assemble and package parts, sub-assemblies and finished products as dictated by current production demands.
  • Keeps accurate accounts of time and production using available software and/or other methods assigned by the company.
  • Manages time and productivity appropriately to keeps production on schedule to meet production deadlines.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by wearing all safety apparel as directed by supervisor (or trainer) or as required by company procedures or applicable laws.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment by operating all machinery, equipment, and tools within safety guidelines established by the company, applicable laws and standard safe work practices
  • Inspects and tests parts, sub-assemblies and final product, using various tools and equipment, to insure they are within quality and production guidelines. Alerts supervisor or designated trainer if for any reason Production Technician 3 has reason to think the product being produced is not meeting the specifications as required.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Participates in required Lean efficiency improvement events, including but not limited to 5S, Kaizen Events
  • Initiates paperwork, in accordance with the appropriate quality procedure, for any corrective action that is required.
  • Demonstrates consistently good attendance and reliability.
  • Abides by all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a physical appearance which is reasonable, suitable and generally acceptable for your job and within the overall working environment.
  • Fulfills the essential functions and responsibilities identified above. Fulfills any additional responsibilities, functions, and tasks assigned by your supervisor, or chain of command.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

In general, the working conditions are as follows:

  • Frequent exposure to: noise, vibration, heat, fumes, water, grease, oil
  • Occasional exposure to: dirt, smoke, dust/shavings
  • Normal working temperatures.
  • Normal full-time working hours for your position will be specifically assigned by your supervisor. Each shift normally has:
  • One (1) hour off for lunch.
  • Morning Break: 20 minutes
  • Afternoon Break: 20 minutes
  • Breaks are not guaranteed. They are provided at management's discretion and may be rescinded at any time without notice. Breaks represent "opportunities" to break from your work. Employees are expected to stay at work station between breaks.
  • You are engaged in a work activity that should not be interrupted, where such interruption adversely affects the quality of the product or part being manufactured and/or the efficiency of your job as described in this position guide.
  • You are about to engage in a work activity that, if delayed, adversely affects the quality of the product or part being manufactured and/or the efficiency of your job as described in this job description.

The position requires the following:

  • Must be able to sit, walk, bend, carry and stand frequently throughout an eight hour day or ten hour day.
  • Must be able to consistently lift 1-50 lbs., and seldom lift 50-80 lbs. from a floor or table position to chest or overhead height using a proper lifting technique and repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts.
  • Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination and demonstrate good manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to write, use assorted office equipment: computer and all pertinent software, and calculator.
