What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprenticeship Program Outreach and Placement Coordinator position at Wu Yee Children's Services?

The Early Learning Outreach and Placement Coordinator will play a key role in recruiting participants for the Apprenticeship program and ensuring their successful placement in Wu Yee classrooms. This role will help build and maintain strong enrollment from a diverse pool of participants throughout San Francisco, focusing on workforce recruitment. The coordinator will also provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure the successful integration of IRISE apprentices into the Wu Yee Early Learning Centers. The position will involve attending recruitment events, conducting outreach presentations, and working closely with partners to promote the Apprenticeship program.  As well as placing and supporting the mentor teachers as they support apprentices.

Location: 827 Broadway St San Francisco CA  (Req 1619)

Position:  Full time  | 9:00 am - 5:30 pm | Monday - Friday

Language: Spanish Preferred

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Workforce Program Manager and Early Learning Projects Manager develop and implement a strategic plan for outreach to community partners to recruit participants for the Apprenticeship program.
  • Conduct recruitment presentations and staff resource tables at community-based partner organizations to attract potential participants.
  • Ensure successful placement of Apprenticeship participants in Wu Yee classrooms and provide follow-up support to ensure their success in the roles.
  • Collaborate with other program staff for joint recruitment efforts that integrate early learning and workforce recruitment.  
  • Meet with mentor teachers on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate monthly mentor teacher meeting 
  • Coordinate with management staff to arrange staffing and schedules for events and activities.
  • Train staff as needed on conducting outreach presentations and organizing recruitment activities in the community.
  • Support participating mentor teachers in their work with apprentices
  • Serve as the Coordinator and Liaison for the California Mentor Teacher Project
  • Develop and maintain a recordkeeping and tracking system for logging all outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Prepare and submit outreach , placement, and mentor teacher reports as required.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for community-based partners,  family service staff and other staff involved in recruiting participants for the Apprenticeship program.
  • Represent Wu Yee Children’s Services at community meetings, particularly in relation to the workforce program.
  • Attend college classes and other events to represent Wu Yee Children’s Services and its initiatives as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications & Skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Social Work, Public Administration, Child Development, or a related field preferred or ability to demonstrate work related  equivalency
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with low-income individuals and families.
  • At least 2 years of community organizing and outreach experience
  • 2 years of experience in Early Learning programming
  • Knowledge of the San Francisco Community
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including comfort with conducting extensive community outreach presentations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Availability to work several weekends and some evenings throughout the year as required.
  • Valid California Driver's License/proof of auto insurance/annual DMV check required.
  • Criminal record clearance and health requirements that include physical exam, TB and immunizations.

Workforce Program Manager Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly rate $36.50 - $37.98
