Banquet Event Manager & Events Coordinator
Job Description:
Wylder Hotel - Tilghman Island specializes in all-inclusive wedding weekends, corporate events, social gatherings & other events. We are seeking a highly organized & detail-oriented banquet manager to lead in the planning, coordination, and execution of events. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, friendly, and hard-working individual who likes to work in a fast paced environment & enjoys leading a team. Must stand by Wylder’s standard operations and vision while planning/executing events. Liaise between the Director of Sales, General Manager and clients. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, with a strong customer service background. You will oversee all aspects of planning & executing large and small events. Including pre-event BEO review calls, email communication with clients, food & beverage service, staff management, standard venue setup, break down and run of show. Ensure all details are executed per Wylder standard & clients needs. This is a dynamic role that requires flexibility, creativity, and a passion for delivering excellent service. Responsibilities:
- Consult with Director of Sales on new events and upselling opportunities
- Assist DOS with contract creation, editing and client communication.
- Work with DOS to upsell/expand sales opportunities with current clients
- Assist DOS with prospecting new clients and selling events.
- Meet with clients to understand needs & vision
- Develop BEOs, timelines, run of show documents & floorplans
- Manage event timelines & ensure all aspects are executed on schedule
- Supervise banquet staff & assist in training
- Assign roles and ensure proper staffing levels for each event
- Monitor staff performance and have the ability to address any issues
- Coordinate with vendors as needed for delivery dates/times
- Oversee setup and breakdown of tables, chairs & other necessary decor
- Coordinate with the kitchen on standard and custom menu selections.
- Ensure a high level or customer service throughout planning & event
- Ensure the requirements of the contract and client BEO are met
- Learn business computer systems: POS, PMS, Sales Systems, Online Listing Portals etc.

Experience:
- Prior experience in a banquet or catering role, preferred
- Understanding of hospitality operations & procedures
- Knowledge of/ability to learn all property management software programs
