Shift hours are from 8pm-3am Wednesday – Sunday.

How does this position make an impact on the community?
The Pathways Program team provides life-saving services—shelter, counseling and more—for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking. The Family Housing Center team provides short-term emergency shelter in the Missoula Family Housing Center, case management and rental assistance for unhoused families to find and maintain safe, stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency., as well as families experiencing houselessness. This position will work with both teams in support of YWCA families.
The ideal candidate:
Is passionate about the mission of the YWCA and:
- Has completed YWCA advocate training
- Has one years’ experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness (preferred)
- Consistent availability on evenings/weekends
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals, including clients, peers and supervisors
- Good work habits, including punctuality and ability to organize and manage time and information
Some of what you’ll do in this position:
- Provides guidance and support to all overnight staff. Including pro-active supervision for overnight advocates for both shelters
- Acts as on-call and/or fill-in staff as needed for both shelters.
- Provides trauma-informed and survivor-focused advocacy and crisis counseling to residents in the Family Housing Center and the Pathways Domestic Violence Shelter
- Ensures that program guidelines and policies are being met by residents.
- Helps foster a sense of personal strength and self-sufficiency in residents.
- Facilitates resolution with crisis that may arise during the shift.
- Ensures the safety and security of the building (checking doors, windows, and alarms).
- Regularly walk through the entire facility.
- Alerts the Housing Program Director, Director of Programs, Pathways Program Manager, and the Executive Director to areas of concern such as calls to Child & Family Services, calls to 911, and/or emergency services.
- Enters information into VS Tracking database as needed.
- Documents significant occurrences during the shift, including significant resident behavior.
- Act as a point of contact for residents and staff should they need assistance during the night.
- Picks up monthly weekend on-call shifts for the Family Housing Center
- Overnight duties may include assisting residents and staff when needed, entering data from day shifts, assisting with room turnover and laundry as needed, enforcing quiet hours when necessary, general cleaning, disinfecting commonly used areas, and preparing the facility for the next day.
- Maintain confidential written client files as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma, required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Current valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check designed to protect the interests of women, children and families served by our programs.
What else you should know: This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, Wednesday through Sunday. Hours are 8pm and 3am. The regular rate for this position starts at $20/ hour higher wages would be based on experience calculated using YWCA Missoula’s wage matrix. For all hours falling between midnight and 7am, there will be $25/hr shift differential.
