Backend Operations Engineer (AWS)

We are seeking a Backend Operations Engineer to manage and maintain our AWS-hosted application. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deploying, monitoring, and optimizing the backend infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of our product. You will work closely with the development team to streamline operations and support continuous delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• AWS Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and maintain AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.) to support the application.
• Automation & Deployment: Develop and manage automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.) for efficient deployment and configuration.
• Monitoring & Performance: Implement monitoring solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus) to track system performance and quickly resolve issues.
• Incident Response: Troubleshoot production issues, manage incident response, and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development and QA teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines (using Jenkins, Git, Docker, etc.) and improve operational workflows.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce AWS security best practices, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience managing backend systems in an AWS environment.
• Strong proficiency with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix system administration.
• Experience with scripting languages for automation and configuration management.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and containerization technologies (e.g., Jenkins, Docker; Kubernetes is a plus).
• Familiarity with messaging systems and caching solutions, particularly Kafka and Redis.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
• Knowledge of network security, data protection, and compliance frameworks.
