Finance & Accounting Manager (Japanese Speaking)

Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Accounting & Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of our group companies in Singapore and Japan. This role involves both hands-on accounting duties and leadership responsibilities, including supporting business management decisions through financial analysis and strategic planning.
Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring business performance, advising management on necessary actions, and executing financial strategies to support business goals.

• Establish accounting operations for new business ventures.
• Oversee the accounting and financial management for group companies in Singapore and Japan.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, and develop long-term financial plans and budgets.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and handle tax reporting requirements.
• Conduct general financial operations including fund procurement, investment planning, capital cost control, financial analysis, and risk management.
• Lead internal audits and support overall risk management initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and implement operational enhancements.
• Manage daily cash flow activities, including payment processing and deposit tracking.
• Liaise with external accounting firms and auditors.
• Provide leadership, training, and operational guidance to the accounting team.
• Support cross-border operations and provide financial oversight for international branches.
• Handle other general business management tasks as required.
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, with prior team management responsibilities.
• Proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or above preferred) for effective communication with Japanese-speaking stakeholders and headquarters.
• Proven experience in preparing stand-alone and consolidated financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Solid understanding of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or MYOB.
• Strong IT proficiency and familiarity with data analysis tools is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail is an added advantage.
• Experience working in owner-operated or entrepreneurial environments is an added advantage.
