Assistant Manager/Manager, Alumni Engagement (6-month contract), OAR

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position is for Office of Alumni Relations (OAR).
• Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with School of Social Sciences (SOSS) and Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL) and Student Success Centre as a strategic partner to co-organise alumni activities, events and engagement programmes.
  • Identify and collaborate with industry partners to organise engaging alumni projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute as an active team member within OAR to support cluster, department and university-wide events.
• Volunteer Management
  • Manage alumni volunteers and leaders of SMU's Law School and overseas alumni groups (AG) in SEA and Europe, and provide necessary support aligned with OAR's larger volunteer engagement strategy.
  • Provide guidance, manage and support alumni communities and representatives on their initiatives, budget and related matters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of alumni communities and their respective members to facilitate effective communication.
• Event Planning and Management
  • Conceptualise, plan and execute mid-scale alumni events which include panel discussions, overseas townhalls (virtual) and school/class reunions.
  • Facilitate event registration, conduct post event surveys, measure the success of the programmes through the collection of and analysis of data, and prepare reports and post-publicity social media posts after the event.
  • Work with the Student Success Centre to organise the annual Alumni Scholar's Night to engage alumni scholars and final year students, and encourage them to contribute back to SMU.
  • As project IC for SMU Patron's Day 2026, work out the format, budget, timeline, guests to be invited for the event in January 2026.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor Degree with at least 4 years of working experience, preferably in the higher education sector, in the areas of relationship and event management.
• Proven good track record in the planning and executing of community building events. Understanding of alumni relations will be an advantage.
• Possess good initiative, is detail-oriented with good administration and organisational skills.
• Demonstrate competent stakeholder engagement and project/vendor coordination, able to manage concurrent initiatives.
• Demonstrate professionalism in conduct and speech, strategic and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Mature and able to build and maintain relationships with alumni, industry partners and stakeholders.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to evolving circumstances.
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic, able to work independently and in team settings.
• Able to work outside regular work hours.
