Reports To: Enterprise Accountant Accountant

Job Status: Regular Part Time

Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Grade: E

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists Enterprise Accounting in processing all aspects of Enterprise Accounting, and preforms a variety of supporting assignments as determined by the Enterprise Accountant, Retail General Manager, Controller or Chief Financial Officer.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reconcile daily sales reports and batches, enter into various tracking spreadsheets and sales software.
  • Reconcile waste and spoilage reports, calculating cost of waste to adjust inventory.
  • Receive and process invoices into Accounts Payable with correct dating, and expense coding.
  • Prepare inter-company sales invoices
  • Receipt checks and prepare deposits for pick up.
  • Process supplies orders
  • Participate in monthly physical inventory counts that take place on the first of the month, unless otherwise communicated, and assist in reconciling any variances for all retail outlets served.
  • Assist in the monthly close process for all retail outlets served – this may include preparing account reconciliations and proposing journal entry adjustments.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget.
  • Assist in preparing for and completing the annual audit.
Other duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES:

Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities. Participation in Enterprise events may be communicated as a required day activity, not within normal working hours.

Indian Preference Policy applies to this and all positions with the Nooksack Indian Tribe.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:

  • Associates of Arts and Science from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Business Administration, or ;
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree and 4 years of directly related experience in the area of responsibility.
  • Minimum of 1 year working in an accounting department or another department performing similar duties listed above.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION:

  • Experience with Accounting Software
  • Strong attention to detail and proficient analytical skills.
  • Must be computer proficient using word, excel, outlook and access.
  • Must have proven organizational and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks under sensitive deadlines while maintain ing timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Must exhibit the ability to compile preliminary data for monthly reconciliation of accounts.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks with minimal oversight or direction.

REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment.
  • Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.

REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver’s License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe. (Must Provide Driving Abstract at time of hire).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ( The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.):

  • Occasional standing/walking while performing office duties: walking short distances performed throughout shift on tile, carpet or concrete.
  • Frequent/constant sitting: on adjustable chair at desk or assigned work area.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 1-20 lbs.: files, paperwork, supplies. Seldom required to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Occasional required to push or pull using both arms/hands with required force of 5-20 lbs. to open doors/file drawers and filing documents.
  • Required to climb stairs daily.
  • Frequently required to bend at waist/knees/neck to and from seated position while working at desk, filing and records handling.
  • May kneel or crouch occasionally to retrieve items from floor level.
  • Constant use of both hands/fingers and arms to reach/handle or grasp while keyboarding, using phone, calculator, copier, and other office equipment; writing instructions, filing and performing other administrative duties. Job requirements include forward and over shoulder reaching on a frequent basis.
  • Constant use of eye sight for reading documents.
  • Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled office environment.
