Bookkeeper
General Description
YWCA Rhode Island is seeking a Bookkeeper to assist the Chief Financial Officer with the agency's accounting functions.
Essential Duties
- Assures accuracy of daily income and prepares bank deposits, reconciles bank statements
- Verifies vendor bills and prepares checks for disbursement
- Maintains general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, records journal entries
- Prepares associations billings and tracks accounts receivables
- Reviews timesheets for completeness and accuracy, prepares and submits payroll on a bi-weekly basis
- Tracks grants, prepares and maintains fiscal reports to funding sources within the required timeline
- Provides materials, and performs reconciliation of accounts, in preparation for annual audit
- Assists with the preparation of the association's budget by analyzing trends, reviewing program attendance, etc.
- Complies with federal, state and local requirements
- Attends scheduled staff supervision meetings and special events as assigned
- Participates in recommended training programs
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger and payroll
- Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, experienced in non-profits a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information in a responsible manner
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Position Hours and Location
This is a full-time salaried position located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island
