Overview:
Dillon Engineering Services has partnered with a leading engineering contractor delivering projects across Ireland, the UK, and Mainland Europe. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Mechanical Construction Lead to manage mechanical construction activities on a high-profile project. This role involves ensuring safety, quality, and timely turnover of all mechanical systems.
The ideal candidate needs to have a valid visa/citizenship to work in Ireland/Europe.
Primary Job Duties:
Pre-Construction:
- Liaise with design and client workgroup leads; conduct model reviews.
- Prepare and lead constructability reviews.
- Develop detailed Scope of Works (SOWs) for trade contract procurement.
- Assist in the preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
- Review mechanical bids and prepare Technical Bid Analysis (TBA).
- Stay updated on industry trends and new construction methodologies.
- Contribute to project planning, including Construction Health & Safety Plans (CHSP), Quality Assurance & Turnover plans, and execution strategies.
- Provide input on Integrated Activity Planning (IAP) and schedule development.
Construction Execution:
- Ensure adequate resources, tools, and temporary facilities for project success.
- Oversee subcontractor management, including safety, schedule, cost, and quality.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for field execution.
- Engage with Design, Commissioning, and Client teams to meet turnover milestones.
- Ensure compliance with the clients construction methods, safety policies, and quality standards.
- Monitor and enforce statutory and legal requirements for construction activities.
- Lead construction activities to meet project timelines, specifications, and budget constraints.
- Supervise and manage site mechanical staff, including superintendents, trade supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct assessments and appraisals of contractor work and report findings.
- Implement the latest technologies and encourage innovative approaches in construction execution.
- Document and share lessons learned across projects.
- Review contractor progress reports and provide updates to project stakeholders.
- Oversee construction works from pre-construction to system turnover.
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance plans and project execution procedures.
- Identify and recommend training needs for field supervisors and site staff.
- Uphold labor agreements and best practices in workforce management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in a similar role within large-scale industrial or commercial projects.
- Strong background in Biotech/Pharma projects.
- Excellent multidisciplinary knowledge of mechanical construction.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality standards, and project execution.
- Exceptional communication and coordination skills.
