Our client is undergoing a strategic network infrastructure upgrade, transitioning from a primarily Cisco-based environment to a Fortinet and FortiGate-centric architecture. We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Network Administrator with a strong foundation in Cisco networking and hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies to play a crucial role in this transition.
Job Summary:
The Network Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our network infrastructure. This role will focus on supporting the current Cisco environment while actively contributing to the migration to Fortinet and FortiGate. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of network protocols, security principles, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Cisco Network Management:
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Configure and manage VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP), and VPNs on Cisco devices.
- Monitor network performance and identify potential bottlenecks or issues.
- Implement and maintain network documentation.
- Fortinet/FortiGate Transition:
- Assist in the planning and execution of the migration from Cisco to Fortinet/FortiGate.
- Configure and manage FortiGate firewalls, including security policies, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
- Implement and manage Fortinet switches and wireless access points.
- Learn and implement Fortinet Security Fabric features.
- Participate in the configuration and maintainence of Fortinet SD-WAN.
- Network Security:
- Implement and maintain network security best practices.
- Monitor network traffic for security threats and anomalies.
- Respond to security incidents and implement appropriate remediation measures.
- Maintain and update firewall rules and security policies.
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for network-related issues.
- Troubleshoot complex network problems and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation.
- Generate network performance and security reports.
- Document the migration process, and create knowledge base articles.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration.
- Strong experience with Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and other Fortinet networking products is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
- Experience with network security principles and practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, Fortinet NSE certifications) are a plus.
- Experience with SD-WAN is a plus.
