Summary
The Vice President of Sales assumes responsibility and is accountable for the sales operations across 4 locations in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago. The VP of Sales is accountable for the profitability of each sales department within the separate dealership locations. Bettenhausen Automotive is looking for a leader to drive sales strategy across our 4 locations, manage and grow a high performing sales team, and expand our market share within the Chicago-land area. The ideal candidate will have experience as a General Sales Manager or General Manager, a passion for the automotive industry, strong business acumen, and can formulate a winning sales strategy to support our continued growth.
Essential Duties
- Hires, trains and motivates all dealership sales department managers.
- Directs and monitors all sales personnel functions and completes formal performance evaluations of all department managers at regularly scheduled intervals.
- Plans dealership sales operations for the upcoming week/month/year and submits to the platform general manager for approval.
- Monitors the daily operations of the sales departments, recommending improved courses of action where necessary.
- Provides dealer with accurate reports on the financial condition of the sales department.
- Develops and maintains a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel.
- Communicates management policies and procedures to all sales employees and ensures that they are understood and followed.
- Provides enthusiastic leadership to help shape employees' attitudes and build morale.
- Holds regularly scheduled meetings to ensure that the sales department is operating efficiently and profitably.
- Develops marketing & advertising strategies and assists in creating effective, cost-efficient advertising programs.
Education and/or Experience
- 5 - 10 years sales leadership experience, as a general sales manager or general manager
- Multiple Rooftop Leadership Experience - Preferred
- A proven track record of success and growth within an automotive dealership
- Ability to lead, mentor, and train the sales department
- Ability to think strategically, while also maintaining day to day operations
