Position Summary:

We are seeking a candidate who focuses on carefully forecasting and reporting the Club’s financial stability, while creating and maintaining positive business goals within the organization. The Staff Accountant performs accounting functions and procedures essential to the success of the Club. This position works closely with the CFO, Assistant Controller, AR Specialist, AP Specialist and department managers. Previous accounting experience and knowledge with complex financial statements is a requirement for the position.
Ideal candidates have flexible schedules with the ability to multi-task and work independently, as needed. The Staff Accountant performs the full cycle accounting of the Club, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient financial management. The Staff Accountant supports budgeting, auditing, and other financial activities.
Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute the following essential duties:
- General Accounting
- Implement and adhere to accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Club and industry standards.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts monthly.
- Analyze financial reports, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and general ledger.
- Assist with year-end closing processes, including depreciation calculations, capital reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
- Full cycle accounting journal entries and reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting
- Support the Assistant Controller in preparing monthly financial statements and accompanying schedules, including variance analyses against budgeted goals.
- Assist in creating and monitoring the annual budget and preparing regular revenue and business volume reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually).
- Audit and Compliance
- Support audits by ensuring accurate and timely financial documentation.
- Monitor accounting and administrative activities to safeguard the company’s assets and reduce risks of theft or fraud.
- Operational Support
- Perform daily revenue audits for key operational departments (e.g., Golf, Food & Beverage, Golf Course Maintenance, Facilities, etc.).
- Collaborate with all internal teams on various accounting tasks.
- Foster productive relationships between accounting and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Cross-Training and Business Continuity
- Crosstrain with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff to ensure business continuity during absences or peak periods.
- Review invoices for approval, verify general ledger coding, and ensure compliance with use tax and payment deadlines.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Provide support to the CFO and Assistant Controller as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to meet organizational needs.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in hospitality or private club settings.
- Understanding of Accounting Principles and GAAP.
- Proven experience with financial management and accounting principles.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with NorthStar is advantageous.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with private club operations and regulations.
- Experience with club management or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Public Notary certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, and stooping.
- Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Occasional exposure to extreme cold.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation
- Salary is commensurate with experience and ranges from $25-$28 per hour.
