Human Resources Generalist

Functional Responsibilities:

Recruitment, Hiring and Retention: 

  • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies and create job descriptions.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to attract diverse talent.
  • Ensure the completion of new hire documentation and orientation.
  • Implement and participate in job fairs and other hiring opportunities. 
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs

Planning, Reporting and Analytics

  • Forecasts quarterly and annual hiring needs by department; works with managers to proactively identify staffing needs and develop and execute recruiting plans.
  • Assists managers with creating job descriptions and defining hiring requirements.
  • Researches and recommends new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with local universities and training institutions.
  • Networks through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, and employees 
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics.
  • Develops a pipeline of candidates; fosters long-term relationships with past and potential candidates; maintains pipeline in applicant tracking system.

HRIS Administration

  • Maintain and update employee data in the HR Information System (HRIS).
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and assist in reporting and data analysis for HR metrics.
  • Manage HR documentation such as offer letters, contracts, and other personnel-related files.

Leave of Absence Administration

  • Support Senior HR Manager in managing the employee leave of absence processes, including FMLA, short-term disability, and other types of leave.
  • Communicate leave policies and ensure employees are informed about their rights and responsibilities.
  • Track and document leave requests, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Coordinate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate leave processing and pay adjustments.

Administration

  • Facilitates recruiting process through the applicant tracking system; manages applicant tracking system; runs reports; ensures appropriate system usage and trains managers as needed.
  • Develops and tracks goals for recruiting and hiring, develops and tracks metrics around cost per hire, time to hire, quality of hire, etc.
  • Coordinates open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of company policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manages employee referral program.
  • Responds to Human Resources related inquires.
  • Conducts regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation.
  • Leads employer branding initiatives; serves as a key brand ambassador. 
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain employee personnel records.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.


Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in recruitment or human resources with hands-on experience in full-cycle recruiting using various interview techniques and evaluation methods; experience developing recruiting strategy. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, labor laws, leave administration, and compliance.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g. ADP, BambooHR) and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
