Pay: $20.314 per hour

The City of Eagan is now hiring Deck Coordinators for Cascade Bay Waterpark!
Spend your summer at the region’s largest outdoor municipal waterpark assisting with staff training and management, facility and patron safety, and guest relations.

Deck Coordinators start in mid-May and end late-August or early September (some flexibility with start and end dates). Scheduled shifts include early mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays (approximately 35-40 hours/week). Cascade Bay is an outdoor facility, requiring work in all types of weather conditions.

In this job you will:
- Provide high quality customer service and create a positive experience for guests and team members
- Supervise Lifeguards, Head Guards and Pool Attendants:
- Foster a culture of safety, fun, learning, growth-mindset, and teamwork
- Assist with pre-season staff trainings and weekly in-service trainings
- Assist with staff scheduling, sub requests, and daily opening or closing duties
- Mentor and coach staff who need additional training or behavior redirection
- Complete mid/post season evaluations of Lifeguards and Pool Attendants
- Follow Cascade Bay policies and procedures
- Make decisions to reduce staff due to low attendance, weather, etc.
- Assist in handling emergency situations including working with emergency personnel, incident/rescue reports, and follow up with patrons and staff
- Accurately report staff attendance, rescues and first aid administration, and inventory of supplies
- Participate in pre-season leadership trainings and planning, and meetings with other supervisory staff
- Prioritize guest and staff safety through proper rule enforcement, including maintaining OSHA and American Red Cross safety standards
- Perform light maintenance and cleaning including, but not limited to event set-ups, trash removal, and cleaning floors and locker rooms
- Complete daily pool safety checks as needed, including equipment and water quality
- Assist with end-of-season duties and complete post-season reports
- Teach or assist with American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid/CPR classes
- Perform other duties as assigned
What is needed to apply for this job?
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year/season of lifeguarding experience PLUS one year/season of work experience in an aquatic leadership position (such as Head Guard)
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification (LGI) or ability to acquire before season starts
- Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid
Additional Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Completion of at least one year of college coursework or equivalent experience
- Experience working with the public while supervising facilities, activities, and programs effectively
- Previous work experience supervising employees and/or volunteers
- Teaching or coaching experience
- Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
Working Conditions:
The work environment is both indoors and outdoors and can involve contact with variable weather. The employee will be required to work in all weather conditions experienced in Eagan during the months of May – September. Weather conditions encountered may include air temperatures from -30°F to 100°F, and heat indexes to 110°F, rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc.
