The City of Lakeville, a vibrant, growing community, is looking for a Utilities Maintenance I worker to join our team! The City manages a massive underground network of 300 miles of sewer lines and 370 miles of water mains, manages 4,500 fire hydrants and averages 7 million gallons of water through the City's water treatment facility daily.
The Utilities Maintenance I position plays a vital role in ensuring the operation and maintenance (including performing equipment operation, manual labor and general repair) of the City's essential infrastructure.
Successful candidates will have a knack for problem-solving and a commitment to public service. Candidates for this position must be available for extended work days, call backs and shift schedules as required for the City's maintenance operations.
Anticipated hiring range is $23.30 - $25.08 DOQ
2025 Salary Range: $23.30 - $30.14
- Maintenance of City Utility Division infrastructure including but not limited to fire hydrant flushing, valve exercising, sewer manhole inspection and other sewer and water system appurtenances.
- Assists with sewer maintenance operations including jetting and televising.
- Collection of water samples in accordance with Minnesota Department of Health regulations.
- May operate any of the following equipment:
- skid loader
- light snowplow equipment
- lawn care/mowing equipment
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of shop facilities and equipment.
- Assists in providing locations of City utilities under Gopher State One Call system.
- Performs other maintenance tasks and assists other maintenance divisions, as assigned, including emergency situations or to balance seasonal workloads and schedules.
- Adheres to and implements all safety rules, regulations and practices including wearing appropriate safety equipment as necessary to protect the employee, the operation, and the general public.
- Promotes and maintains good relations between co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Participates in educational classes or seminars and safety training as requested by the City.
- At least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma, or equivalent.
- Valid Class D Driver’s License.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor.
- Ability to climb heights of 150 feet.
- Ability to enter and work in storm and sanitary manholes, wet wells, lift stations, pressure reducing stations and meter pits, or other confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to perform sustained physical work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to wear respirators while performing job duties when required.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
