What are the responsibilities and job description for the League Coordinator position at Columbia Youth Basketball Association?
CYBA is accepting resumes for a League Coordinator position. Applicants should send their resumes to board@cybahoops.org. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
The duties of the League Coordinator generally include:
· Attending Board meetings;
· Being the liaison between players, parents, and coaches and the Board and CYBA’s partners (Columbia Public Schools, Columbia Parks & Rec);
· Creating and managing practice schedules, including coordinating practice locations and times for teams;
· Managing team schedules;
· Assisting with team formation;
· Assisting with the skills clinic in September;
· Instructing coaches through coaches meeting, information packet, and in-season follow ups;
· Managing the pre-season and post-season Jamborees;
· Collaborating on the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of referees and scorekeepers and site supervisors;
· Assisting CYBA Staff as needed; and
· Other tasks as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.
This is considered a part-time position; however, the time commitment varies depending on the league schedule. For example, minimal hours are needed post-season and during the summer. Time commitment for this position will start to increase in September when recruitment and training for referees, score keepers, and site supervisors begins. Once teams are formed, the League Coordinator is the contact person for coaches, players, and parents. Once practices begin the League Coordinator is “on call” in case of practice venue issues (i.e. a location is not open, etc.). The League Coordinator is in charge of managing the season once games begin in January. Attendance at games during the season may be required and could account for 4-8 hours a week on Saturdays in January through early March.
