Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care, including health assessments, pain assessments, vital sign monitoring, and general patient care for individuals entering the Crisis Stabilization Center.
- Administer medications, oversee self-administration, and maintain accurate medication records through the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
- Conduct patient education concerning physical health and medication management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and coordinate care with staff, families, and healthcare providers.
- Document observable changes in patients' behavior, attitude, and physical condition.
- Assist with various diagnostic and treatment procedures as necessary.
- Educate new staff members on procedures and protocols in a supportive manner.
- Participate in team and leadership meetings as assigned, contributing to the development of best practices.
- Engage effectively with patients, including those who may exhibit agitation.
- Be prepared to partake in mandatory overtime when required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and nonverbal communication capabilities.
- Strong cognitive, organizational, and emotional intelligence to navigate high-pressure situations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stressors and deadlines effectively.
- Experience in providing direct patient care to adults, particularly in a psychiatric setting.
- Capability to handle interactions with verbally or physically distressed patients.
- An Associate’s degree in nursing is required, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric experience is necessary; experience in a hospital or acute care environment is advantageous.
- A valid LPN or RN license in Missouri is required.
