POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant City Manager and City Manager performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties to facilitate the coordination of all matters pertaining to City Administration. Clerical duties may be assigned in accordance with the office procedures of individual establishments and may include a combination of answering telephones, typing or word processing, report preparation, invoice processing, mail pick up, office machine operation, and filing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as the first point of contact for customers and handles routine inquiries.
- Answers telephone, routes calls, processes messages, schedules appointments, directs citizens to proper divisions, takes citizen requests, gives out general information, and sorts and distributes office correspondence.
- Provides back-up support, as needed.
- Provides administrative support to the Assistant City Manager and City Manager, and their assigned divisions.
- Prepares correspondence, memos and related communications.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education – High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience – One years of clerical experience. Experience in municipality preferred. Proficient in MS Office.
- Licenses/Certifications – Valid Utah Driver License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of –
- Correct English usage, spelling, and vocabulary
- Personal computer applications, data entry, and word processing software
- Skill with –
- MS Office
- Phone procedures and etiquette
- Customer service: greeting customers, guests and visitors, answering customer or public inquiries, obtaining information from individuals, residents, and responding with a high degree of accuracy, with a high level of courtesy, and a strong public service orientation

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Typical office setting with comfortable climate controls. Tasks require a variety of physical activities such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required for most essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Occasionally lifts or otherwise moves objects weighing up to 10 pounds. May drive a motor vehicle.
