Cost Accountant - Financial Analyst

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant to support financial planning, cost analysis, and pricing strategy development. This role involves assessing material costs, monitoring cost variances, and forecasting financial trends to support strategic decision-making. Based on experience and qualifications, this position may be elevated to Senior Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant.

Primary Responsibilities

Cost Analysis & Reporting

• Analyze material costs and compare them against budgeted and actual expenses.
• Develop and refine pricing strategies to maintain cost competitiveness.
• Identify and monitor cost variances, providing comprehensive financial reports to management.
• Assist with cost audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Inventory Valuation & Reconciliation

• Support inventory valuation processes, reconciliation efforts, and financial close activities.
• Conduct inventory analysis to maintain accuracy and minimize variances.
• Assess cost fluctuations and recommend improvement strategies.

Pricing & Financial Planning

• Develop and maintain pricing models for products and services.
• Conduct post-project cost analysis to evaluate financial performance.
• Assist with financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term cost management.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiency enhancements.

Performance Monitoring & Business Insights

• Establish and manage cost standards in coordination with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Analyze financial data to provide insights into cost trends and profitability.
• Continuously refine pricing structures to enhance business performance.

Collaboration & Travel

• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams to optimize cost structures.
• Travel occasionally to company facilities or supplier locations as needed.

Qualifications & Competencies

Technical Expertise

• 10 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, pricing strategies, and financial reporting.
• Experience with inventory valuation, variance analysis, and cost audits.

Technical Proficiency

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and complex formulas.
• Experience with accounting and ERP systems (Workwise ERP experience is a plus).

Collaboration & Analytical Abilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team-driven environment.
