Job Title: Summer Discovery Program Teacher(S)
Position Description: Under the direction of the Grants Coordinator, Athletics and Activities Director and Summer Discovery Teacher Leader, the Summer Discovery Program Teachers will develop and implement the summer program in order to continually improve student performance. All positions will be pending student enrollment.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Classroom teaching experience
- Michigan Teacher Certification - highly qualified
Preference given to those with Reading Specialist, ESL Certification, Master's Degree in Education or Social Work,
and/or Behavior Specialist
Ability to work with Staff, Students and Families
Ability to plan and implement an innovative summer program for 1st through 8th Grade Students Adaptable, flexible, and willingness to learn new technologies.
Our Summer Discovery Program Teacher will skillfully demonstrate:
Strong desire and ability to achieve outstanding student achievement results in a short amount of time, Ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students in order to exert academic press and
influence
Ability to motivate students and influence their behaviors
Collaborative creation and execution of clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student
learning with a focus on whole child development and social skill building
Development of organized routines, communicate clear expectations, and grow a positive summer learning
culture
Building a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability Have fun! Make learning in the summer fun for teachers, students and families!
Selection Committee: Teachers will be selected based on fit to the age group (K-5 or Middle School age), ability to improve student academic achievement, and fit to the Summer School program. Interviews will be conducted if necessary.
Evaluated By: Athletics and Activities Director and/or Assistant Superintendent
Program Dates:
June 23-July 25, 2025
Monday-Thursday 7:00AM-3:00 PM
Training will take place on June 16 - June 18, 2025.
*Additional hour of preparation paid daily
Salary Data: Paid through Summer Discovery Grant Funding; $40 per hour,
Grant funded program services supplement and support but do not supplant or replace the general education program
of the school district.
