Financial Controller with CPA Expertise

Job Overview

We are seeking a strategic and accomplished financial leader to assume the role of Controller at our esteemed organization in the scenic city of Marquette, Michigan. This is an exceptional opportunity to collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer to establish and refine accounting and process controls, manage financial risks, and oversee all fiscal dimensions related to our supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closure processes, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
• Manage audits, tax documentation, statutory reporting, and ensure compliance with US GAAP and organizational standards.
• Deliver precise cash reporting, forecasting, and conduct technical accounting research.
• Streamline and document financial processes, utilizing ERP systems for enhanced scalability and accurate reporting.
• Assess and elevate accounting practices, ensuring efficient operations and robust internal controls.
• Mentor and nurture the accounting team while imparting financial knowledge to the broader business.
• Foster strong interdepartmental relationships to align financial reporting with operational processes.
• Maintain relationships with auditors, advisors, and investors, including overseeing capitalization tables and equity tracking.
• Review cost accounting practices, advance supply chain efficiencies, and enhance visibility into overhead expenditures.
• Implement control programs for operations, capital investments, and cost standards.
  
  

Required Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP compliance and financial reporting standards.
• Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP).
• Expertise in cost accounting, data analysis, and variance analysis.
• Advanced capabilities in Excel reporting.
• Exceptional leadership, planning, and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline (mandatory).
• Active CPA license (mandatory).
• 10 years of experience in accounting and/or finance, with a focus on tax, audit, and treasury management (mandatory).
• Experience in ERP design and implementation (preferred).
• 3 years in a Controller or senior-level position (preferred).
• 3 years of experience in manufacturing and cost accounting (preferred).
