We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Real Estate Counsel to join our esteemed organization within the self-storage industry. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with various teams, including real estate acquisition, development, property management, construction, and commercial leasing, and to provide vital legal analysis and transaction leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, review, and amend a diverse array of legal documents, such as real estate agreements, property management agreements, and construction contracts.
- Oversee the real estate acquisition process for storage facilities, including negotiating purchase and sale agreements and conducting due diligence.
- Support development and redevelopment initiatives by managing entitlement processes and addressing land use issues.
- Negotiate third-party property management arrangements and manage ongoing environmental matters.
- Assist in resolving disputes with adverse parties through effective negotiation and analysis.
- Supervise the engagement of outside legal counsel as necessary and report on activity to senior management.
- In-depth understanding of real estate law and transactions.
- Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Prioritization and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Business-oriented problem-solving capabilities and ability to adapt to shifting organizational needs.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required.
- 8-12 years of relevant legal experience as a real estate attorney, emphasizing acquisitions and dispositions, development activities, and general real estate due diligence.
- A combination of large law firm experience and in-house practice is preferred.
- Active member in good standing with a state Bar.
