Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Activities Director to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. The Activities Director will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational programs tailored to the needs of seniors, including those in memory care and long-term care settings. This role requires strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all residents, including those with disabilities.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the diverse interests and needs of residents.
- Coordinate events and activities that promote social interaction, physical health, and cognitive stimulation.
- Manage schedules for activities to ensure optimal participation while accommodating individual resident preferences.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other departments to integrate therapeutic activities into residents’ care plans.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve programming.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming events and activities.
- Train and supervise volunteers or staff assisting with activities to ensure a high standard of service.
Skills
- Experience in memory care or senior care environments is highly desirable.
- Strong event planning abilities to create engaging programs that resonate with residents.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy principles is a plus.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while being adaptable to changing needs.
- Compassionate approach when working with individuals with disabilities or varying levels of cognitive function.
