Looking to hire a highly professional, dependable individual to join our team. The medical receptionist is responsible for effectively administering front office activities to deliver high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients in a warm and friendly manner when they enter the office.
- Check patients in and out of the office and gather all pertinent information, i.e., insurance information, payments, etc.
- Answer phones in a professional and welcoming tone, providing assistance to callers.
- Optimize patient satisfaction by providing excellent customer service, care, and attention.
- In the medical management software system, schedule appointments for patients and ensure all information is up-to-date and accurate.
- Keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying doctors and nurses of patients’ arrival.
- Ensure accurate billing and claims submissions to private insurance companies.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
- Schedule phone appointments with doctors and nurses to communicate exam and test results to patients.
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as mail distribution, faxing, printing, scanning documentation, and ordering supplies.
- Organize and execute payment to outside vendors.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Excellent phone skills – highly professional and able to effectively serve the needs of the caller.
- Professional demeanor along with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Highly flexible, strong team player who works well with colleagues.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, along with strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Experience in computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, practice management software (PMS), and electronic medical records (EMR).
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate. Certification from an accredited program is a plus.
- Prior administrative experience in a fast-paced medical or other business environment preferred.
- Knowledge of medical software scheduling systems.
