Statement of Primary Purpose
In support of Isothermal Community College, the Small Business Center Director administers activities of the Small Business Center, builds bridges and closes gaps to the business community.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Identify needed small business activities and plan content and schedule to meet community needs
2. Take initiative in starting new activities
3. Maintain close contact with small business community, professional organizations, and trade associations
4. Encourage exchange of ideas and open communication
5. Maintain up-to-date resources and information bank/center
6. Identify small business community needs and initiate plans and/or activities to meet the needs
7. Submit accurate records and reports on the small business center accomplishments
8. Participate in meetings with college personnel and share information
9. Recruit well qualified volunteers, part-time personnel for teaching and counseling and orient them to the college and center operations of small business activities
9. Provide monitoring and guidance of volunteers and part-time personnel
10. Evaluate activities to maintain high level of quality and up-to-date information
11. Maintain effective partnerships within the network of small business centers in the state
12. Work with active small business advisory group
13. Prepare and control a small business center operational budget
14. Maintain effective partnership with local, state, federal, and educational agencies, and other service providers
15. Work collaboratively with all areas of the college to provide entrepreneurship services to the business community
16. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree with at least three years of successful business experience in an ownership and/or management capacity, required.
2. Master's degree with at least three years of successful business experience in an ownership and/or management capacity, preferred.
