Our client, a financial institution, is seeking an IT Officer to join their technology team. This role primarily focuses on cloud-based systems, cybersecurity, and IT operations, rather than hardware management. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of the institution’s cloud infrastructure and software solutions while providing IT support and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud & IT Infrastructure Management
- Oversee and manage cloud-based platforms, ensuring availability, performance, and security.
- Maintain user access and permissions for SaaS (Software as a Service) applications.
- Monitor cloud resources, optimizing costs and efficiency.
- Assist in software implementation, updates, and integrations.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Ensure IT security best practices align with regulatory requirements in Malta and international standards.
- Monitor and mitigate security risks, including phishing, malware, and unauthorized access.
- Manage multi-factor authentication (MFA) and endpoint security solutions.
- Conduct periodic security audits and risk assessments.
IT Support & Administration
- Provide technical support to employees on software applications and cloud services.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, access, and system-related issues.
- Maintain documentation for IT processes, policies, and user guides.
- Liaise with external IT vendors and service providers.
Regulatory & Operational Compliance
- Ensure IT policies comply with financial regulations and data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, MFSA guidelines).
- Support audits by maintaining accurate IT logs and reports.
- Implement and enforce disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working in a cloud-centric IT environment (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or SaaS solutions).
- Understanding of financial industry regulations and IT security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and cloud security principles.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to provide remote support.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Certifications (Optional but Beneficial)
- CompTIA Security , Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), or AWS Cloud Practitioner.
- ITIL Foundation for service management best practices.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) (considered a plus).
