Human Resource Specialist
Maine Savings has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resource Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time position in our Hampden Administrative Offices. As an HR Specialist, you can expect to:
- Conduct pre-employment processes such as phone screens, interviews, and initiate criminal background and credit investigations.
- Conduct and coordinate new hire on-boarding administrative tasks.
- Serve as backup payroll coordinator by training for and practicing in submitting payroll in the absence of the Payroll/Benefit Administrator.
- Develop partnerships with internal staff that enable the human resources function to provide appropriate services to business partners.
- Assist with annual benefits enrollment for group health, dental, life insurance and long-term disability insurance.
- Schedule, conduct, and track all stay and exit interviews.
- Prepare summary reports towards identifying trends as requested and on an as needed basis.
- Assists in the development and delivery of professional development modules. May work with the training and development function in conducting professional development needs assessments.
Employees in this position are expected to:
- To effectively communicate with employees, applicants, and others in person, by phone, by letter, and by email.
- To accurately update employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll.
- To provide informed professional assistance to others in the organization as requested.
- To interpret laws and tax codes as they relate to human resources procedures. An understanding of DOL regulations, EEOC regulations, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA, and other laws is required.
- To provide friendly, professional, personal service by passionately demonstrating the Maine Savings Service Standards of Courtesy, Appearance, Responsiveness, Empowerment, Empathy, and Reliability to all members and coworkers.
Experience and Education Required: A minimum of three years of similar or related experience is preferred as well as a two-year college degree, completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors is preferred.
