| Job Description Summary | The English & Communication Department at Nazareth University of Rochester, New York invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Communication & Media program at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in fall 2024. The department seeks candidates committed to teaching excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both liberal arts and professional programs. Applicants who will contribute to the university's commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment are especially encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will contribute to a program that is skill-based and culturally aware. We are particularly interested in candidates who focus on media studies as an interdisciplinary field and who have additional expertise in communication, rhetoric, journalism, public relations, marketing, and/or advertising. Special attention will be given to candidates whose materials address issues of bias, marginalization, and ethics in their teaching, scholarship, and service records. In addition to teaching in their area of specialization, successful candidates will teach several or more of the Communication & Media program's key courses: Introduction to Media Industries, Writing for Digital Media, Oral Communication, Comm Theory, Comm Research Methods, Social Media, and Senior Seminar. Candidates will also help promote the Comm/Media program, participate in learning outcomes assessment, cultivate internship and professional development opportunities for students, advise majors and minors, and contribute to the program in other ways. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester, generally with three preparations. Nazareth University, an independent, comprehensive institution with 1,900 undergraduate and 550 graduate students, prepares its graduates to serve local and global communities through a wide range of liberal arts and professional programs.
