MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST POSITION
- Full-Time Position: M - F
- Hours Vary Between 7:00 am - 3:30 pm and 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients and will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within our practice.
JOB SUMMARY
This important position is the patient’s first point of contact when arriving at our clinic. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for managing the front desk operations of the surgical practice. This includes greeting patients, verifying patient insurance coverage, confirming appointment details, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all patients. The ideal candidate should have excellent poise & communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Handles patient check-in and check-out procedures, verifying patient identification, demographics, and insurance information in Epic.
- Verifies patient eligibility.
- Collects copays.
- Assists patients with the completion of required documentation, as needed.
- Scans documentation into Epic electronic health record.
- Assists with the preparation of patient charts and other documentation.
- Performs daily reconciliation of monies collected.
- Ensures the reception area is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Coordinates with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Performs general clerical duties, when needed.
- Adheres to all HIPAA regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Follows practice policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a related healthcare administrative role,_ highly preferred._
- Experience in a surgical practice or specialty clinic, preferred.
- Two or more years of customer service experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
- Demonstrated computer experience, preferably in Epic EHR.
- Previous admitting, billing, collection, and/or insurance verification experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures, preferred.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure.
- Excellent telephone and written communication skills as well as listening skills and ability to demonstrate tact and patience with callers and patients.

- High attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
