We are seeking a Head of Strategy to drive strategic initiatives, lead our shared services organization, and support our portfolio companies with high-impact analysis and operational excellence.
Role Overview
The Head of Strategy will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to shape Philo Ventures' strategic direction. This role is ideal for a highly analytical and driven professional with experience in top-tier management consulting (MBB), investment banking, or private equity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Analysis
- Partner with the CEO to define and execute high-priority strategic initiatives across our portfolio.
- Develop and implement frameworks for evaluating investment opportunities, business performance, and operational improvements.
- Provide data-driven insights to inform executive decision-making and business planning.
- Support fundraising and investor relations efforts.
Shared Services & Operational Excellence
- Oversee and enhance our shared services function, ensuring efficiency in finance, legal, HR, and other cross-company operations.
- Develop and manage key business scorecards, financial reporting structures, and KPI dashboards.
- Standardize operational processes to enable scalability and better decision-making.
Vertical & Portfolio Support
- Work closely with the leadership of our three verticals (studio, real estate, and hospitality) to provide financial modeling, market research, and strategic analysis.
- Perform due diligence on new vertical opportunities
- Drive accountability and alignment between Philo’s investments, helping portfolio companies optimize their strategies.
- Support capital allocation decisions by analyzing return profiles and operational impact across initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Prepare and deliver reports for investors, board members, and external stakeholders.
- Lead quarterly business reviews, investor updates, and executive team meetings.
- Develop communication strategies for sharing insights and progress across the organization.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: 4–7 years in strategy consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), investment banking, or private equity; experience in venture capital or startups is a plus.
- Education: MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
