About the Role:
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group ELA and Math instruction at PS 42 R. Vernam. The tutor will work with students in grades K-5, supporting both ELA and Math by pulling students out into small groups for targeted instruction. This role is designed to strengthen students' foundational skills and improve academic performance.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with teachers to provide engaging, small-group instruction in Math and ELA
- Pull students from classrooms for individualized or small-group support in literacy and numeracy
- Help students develop strong foundational skills and confidence in both subjects
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to excel
Schedule:
- Days: Monday – Friday (candidate must be available all five days)
- Time: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Duration: March 24, 2025 – June 4, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
- Key Dates Off:
- March 31: Eid al-Fitr
- April 14–18: Spring Recess
- May 26: Memorial Day
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary school Math and ELA
- Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of elementary-level Math and ELA concepts
- Team Player: A collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
