Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Pool Manager. General responsibilities will include lifeguarding, enforcement of pool rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Effective prevention of accidents by eliminating the hazard or hazardous behavior.
- Enforcement of all rules regarding pool policies and operating procedures.
- Executes policies and procedures professionally and accurately.
- Communicates all information verbally and in writing to supervisors.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment for patrons and staff.
- Maintain a level of physical fitness appropriate to the demands of lifeguarding.
- Be prepared to handle emergencies.
- Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Pool Manager on time.
- Attends staff meetings as assigned.
- Assumes responsibility of taking disciplinary action as necessary while on duty.
- Assists in the maintenance and care of pool and rescue equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for cleanliness of facility.
- Performs any other related or similar duty as assigned.

Working Conditions:
This position can involve sitting, standing, walking, running, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Work responsibilities will be performed in a standard office environment, however all functions named in this section could also be in and around a pool in accordance with employment in a recreational facility of which a swimming pool is present.
Machines and Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment that include, computers and software packages, fax and copy machines, telephones, cash registers, vacuums, maintenance equipment, pool vacuums, skimmers, rescue tubes, rescue cans, throw ropes, Shepard’s crook, backboard, cervical collars, AED’s, chemical feeders, filters, hair baskets, pumps and motors and any other equipment associated with use in a recreational facility.
Job Requirements:
Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Current American Red Cross Certifications in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED Essentials.
At least one-year experience as a lifeguard.
