Job Summary

The Interpreter Education and Professional Development department (IEPD) supports a culture of life-long learning, celebrating diversity, and advancing professional excellence in the field of interpreting. We are seeking dedicated professionals who are committed to educating, empowering interpreters and educators to support the development and provision of innovative interpreter education courses, materials, and curricula that empower interpreter educators and interpreters in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies.

This is a dynamic and fast-paced position that supports many facets of programs and projects being offered and developed within the IEPD department. The Interpreter Education and Professional Development Project Coordinator will work under the direction of the IEPD Project Manager.

This person will work with the IEPD Project Manager to monitor, process, and comply with RID requirements to maintain Sorenson as a CMP sponsor. Additionally, this person will be accountable for the coordination, planning, and tracking of schedules and logistics for various training programs supported by IEPD to ensure that these programs and events are successfully executed. This individual will assist in communications for the department with both internal and external presenters to ensure that they are supported in the provision of interpreter training to Sorenson interpreters. This position is also responsible for assisting with the coordination and scheduling of up to 1,000 workshop sessions per year.

This successful candidate will require both critical thinking skills and creativity—and have the ability to engage with interpreters to create interest in our department offerings and support both development and provision.

Pay Range: The estimated pay range for this position is $18.43 to $30.72 hourly.  Actual pay may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience and location.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Track the day to day schedules of trainees and provide logistical support related to schedule coordination
  • Work as part of the provision team that provides logistical coordination, scheduling, and reporting for all of the programs across IEPD to efficiently and effectively manage staff time, resources, and comply with regulations.
  • Works in collaboration with the IEPD Executive Director and IEPD Program Managers to monitor, process, and comply with RID requirements for Sorenson’s maintenance as a CMP Sponsor.
  • Manages time independently to successfully complete project tasks in a timely manner.
  • Focus on providing outstanding customer service experiences
  • Other duties as assigned by the IEPD Project Manager or Executive Director of IEPD

 

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

 

Travel Requirements

Travel Requirements:  Less than 25%

 

Education

4 Year / Bachelors Degree strongly preferred

 

Experience

- Strong preference given to those with experience in a sign language interpreting setting

- 3 years proven administrative experience, coordination and scheduling experience required

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to fluently communicate in American Sign Language strongly preferred
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interact in a cooperative and professional manner with team members as well as internal and external customers to deliver quality customer service both in person and in written communications
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment without onsite supervision as well as within a team
  • Ability to coordinate and plan scheduling for IEPD training programs and ensure that they are successfully executed
  • Ability to create and provide written reports and data analysis to support the data needs of the department
  • Strong preference to working knowledge within the sign language interpreting field
  • Ability to effectively work in the Microsoft Office suite with a strong working knowledge of Excel, and Word
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented, comfortable working with a diverse team
  • Possess exceptional time management skills and is self-motivated
  • Working knowledge or experience with mentoring, providing training and workshops preferred
  • Must be knowledgeable about the VRS application, FCC regulations, policies and procedures of the company, and all updates to the VRS software and equipment
  • Experience with eLearning applications strongly preferred
  • Experience in training or similar setting a plus

Able to sit/ stand for a long period of time in an office environment

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components
