What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Stivers?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller in the Akron, OH area to oversee day-to-day financial operations, manage financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, and supervise the finance team to ensure efficient and accurate accounting practices.
Controller Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to improve operations.
- Manage and maintain financial systems, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with regulations. Additionally, oversee budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and grant program financial performance.
- Supervise finance staff, delegating tasks and ensuring work meets company standards and policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit process.
- Ensure timely accounts payable disbursements and recommend improvements to accounting systems.
- Assist the CFO with financial consultation, variance analysis, and the preparation of annual budgets and financial plans.
- Manage internal controls, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes.
Controller Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting operations.
- Experience supervising and leading a finance team.
- Familiarity with grant management and compliance reporting.
- Experience working in the nonprofit healthcare field
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced certifications a plus).
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably in an organizational setting.
