What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director of Design and Construction position at SUNY Upstate Medical University?
Job Summary:
This position reports to both the University Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration for academic and research needs and the Hospital Chief Operating Officer for clinical needs. The Executive Director will provide leadership, coordination and administrative oversight to the design, construction and facilities engineering departments for major capital projects, interior renovations and special projects as assigned. This position is responsible for ensuring that the planning, design, and construction of capital projects are completed accurately, effectively, and in accordance with the requirements of the University and its hospital and other regulatory agencies. The Executive Director provides oversite of Code enforcement and life safety provided by the built environments. This role will work in coordination with Hospital and University Leadership, Physical Plant, Space Utilization and Energy Management to renovate, maintain, improve, and add to the UMU built environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Management or closely related field. Seven (7) years of relevant experience in the design and construction of Capital Projects within an operating facility. Knowledgeable in current NYS building codes.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree is preferred. Experience in an academic medical center environment, including hospital regulatory and accreditation requirements is preferred.
